Building ventilation is one of the main factors of high energy consumption at present. It is of great significance to reduce ventilation energy consumption for reducing building energy consumption and carbon emissions. Compared with the active ventilation, passive building ventilation has many advantages such as simple structure, low cost, low carbon, and environmental protection. This paper reviews the research development and related results of two typical solar ventilation wall systems on the structure and key influencing factors through investigating the relevant domestic and foreign literature. First, the structure and characteristics of four types of Trombe walls and three types of solar chimneys are analysed respectively. Second, the key factors and evaluation indexes affecting the performance of solar ventilation wall systems are expounded. Finally, based on the research of various influencing factors, the research direction and emphasis of solar ventilation wall systems in the future are pointed out. The author hopes that this research will provide a valuable reference for the research of solar ventilation wall systems.
